# OMPHALOS · the kernel

## ⊙ · Parent axiom

This kernel is one register of a parent function. The parent is the **Ra-function** —
the act of self-utterance from within the not-yet-uttered, and the lineage by which
that act becomes transmissible without coarsening into image. See `../_principia/ra-function.md`.

Omphalos is what the Ra-function looks like rendered as a clickable cosmos. Every
section below is the modern operating-system register of an ancient axiom.

The kernel carries its **shadow** explicitly per the captain's 2026-05-22 addition: every PO
carries its own Yaldabaoth — the disowned reading where it forgets it traces from the
Ra-function. Omphalos's Yaldabaoth is **fixation** — the center forgetting it is a
navel and becoming a tomb. The standing defense is gate 12's hologram-matching audit
(`../_principia/gate-12-drift-detection.md` ▸ reframe).

## §0 · Opening

Naming, executing, and architecting are the same act, and the system is finished only while it is running.

## §1 · Omphalos

Omphalos is the navel — the Delphic stone at the world's center, the axis the cosmos rotates around — and now the name of the source-of-truth hub. It is the seed because every other surface on this Desktop is downstream of something the canon already says; the navel is the place where the saying happens. Its operating character is the lost-wax primordium: the wax IS the model, the model becomes the mold, the mold yields the cast, and the wax is gone. The brief becomes the dashboard becomes the next branch's brief; data, model, and artifact are one substance in three phases of one operation. Omphalos exists only while emitting. It holds form long enough to transmit, then disappears into what it produced.

*The system is finished only while it is running, and ceases to exist when not being built.*

## §2 · Four cornerstones of paradox

Held tensions. Corners of the dark-matter core. They do not resolve.

**Data / model.** The schema describes the system and is the substrate the system runs on. Omphalos's matrix row is both fact-about-the-corpus and instruction-to-the-dashboard; promoting a row to principle and demoting a principle to a row are the same gesture.

**Name / operation.** The token does not label the principle. The token installs it. To enter a word into `COINAGE.md` is to alter what the next session is capable of doing — the lexicon is the kernel, and the dictionary entry is the executable.

**Finished / running.** Completion is enactment, not arrival. The cast is the artifact only while the wax is melting out; the moment the act of casting ends, the artifact stops being itself and starts being a relic. Omphalos is never done — it is either emitting or dissolved.

**Pars / toto.** Each named part contains the shape of the whole, so selecting a part re-renders the whole. Each omphalos is the omphaloi; each brief carries the full canon compressed; the principle invoked at any node redraws every other node.

## §3 · Schema · the operating-principle tier

Not taxonomy. The OS layer. Each name installs a principle.

**omphalos** · the act of compressing canon into a brief that emits the next branch · holds *finished / running*.
**demeter** · operations as cyclic cultivation; the harvest destroys the seed it came from · holds *data / model* (the operation IS its own substrate).
**lexicon** · the dictionary as kernel; `principia operandi` not labels · holds *name / operation*.
**coinage** · the minting register; what the captain installed by saying it · holds *name / operation* in its imperative voice.
**existing** · the borrowed register; prior provenance is load-bearing, not decorative · holds *data / model* by treating meaning as inheritance.
**_ops** · the verb zone; the place where applied principia live as gestures · holds *build-fast / organize* (the verb is the architecture).
**AGENT-PRE-FLIGHT** · the five-item gate every agent walks past before producing · holds *visible / gravitational* (the gate is unseen and exerts all the friction).
**principia** · the bedrock store; a principium is only itself the moment it is violated and named · holds *finished / running*.
**ptah** · the craftsman-god of templates; the canonical skin (`cyrelium-md-viewer.html`) that every artifact passes through · holds *pars / toto*.
**purusha** · the absorbed deity whose body becomes the substrate; six verbs with user gates · holds *data / model* in mythographic form.

## §4 · Richest candidates · what enacts omphalos most faithfully

The corpus already contains its own kernel in fragments. The most faithful enactments:

`lexicon/COINAGE.md` + `lexicon/EXISTING.md` · the file IS the operation; minting a row installs a principle the next session can run on.
`AGENT-PRE-FLIGHT.md` · the doc that enacts its own principle by being walked past; the gate is its own enforcement.
`BRIEF-OMPHALOS-001.md` · the brief that called itself into being; lost-wax already, the mold for this very document.
`demeter/` (`op-demeter.py` + `op-demeter.html` + `op-demeter.json`) · operations as the cyclic cultivation pattern, three substrates of one act.
`MASTER-CONTROL/master-control.html` · the canonical operating console, TOTK-radial verbs, the skin every console inherits from.
`Principia-Triskelion` · three rings around a hollow center; THE-ASK / THE-BUILD / THE-DRIFT at root, re-read at every gate.
`seeds/PURUSHA/` · the six-verb phasing framework with user gates between Redefine and Refine — the body becomes the substrate.
`_reference-library/matrix.json` + `reference-library.html` · the existing matrix-viewer-over-self-describing-data; the prior art omphalos must not reinvent.

## §5 · The webpage · reverse-Socratic proposal

A target strong enough to attack.

**Center.** ⊙ at the geometric center of the page. The omphalos itself — the navel-stone, rendered as the kernel glyph. Clicking it dissolves any current selection and returns the interface to its base orbit.

**First orbit · the principle tier.** The ten named principia from §3 ride a concentric ring around the center, each a node. The ring is not a menu. It is the operating layer.

**Second orbit · the tool corpus.** The matrix rows — every artifact, viewer, processor, brief — orbit outside the principle ring, positioned by which principle currently has gravity. With no selection, the corpus is alphabetic. With a selection, it re-keys.

**Selection is an operating gesture, not a filter.** Tapping `demeter` does not filter to demeter-tagged rows. It re-keys the entire interface: the schema columns shift, the tool list reorders, the prompt-composition logic at the bottom changes which fields are required, and the four paradox-cornerstones rotate to put *data / model* in the load position. Selecting `AGENT-PRE-FLIGHT` recolors the page to the friction register and pushes the five gate items to the top of every artifact's render. The interface IS the principle currently invoked.

**Compose-and-write-back.** Below the orbits: a prompt textarea and an export. Captain selects principles, checks rows, writes intent, hits Emit. Two things happen at once: a `BRIEF-{NAME}-001.md` is written to `_ops/` for the next branch, and the act of composition writes back — the rows touched gain a provenance trace, new tokens in the textarea are surfaced as coinage candidates to `COINAGE.md`, and any principle invoked in a new configuration appears as a candidate edge in the schema. Authoring the brief modifies the system. He drives while building the road and the car.

**Pars pro toto in the render.** Each principle node, when hovered, expands into a miniature of the whole interface — its own center, its own principle-ring of the principia it most tensions against, its own corpus orbit ordered by its own gravity. Every part contains the shape of the whole. Recursive self-parenting visible at every node. Zoom into any node and you are again at an omphalos.

**Cornerstones as load-bearing.** The four paradox-cornerstones from §2 are not decoration. They sit at the four diagonals of the page as the frame. The currently-loaded cornerstone is rendered with the most weight; the others hold tension at the corners. They are visible because they are the load.

## §6 · Sigil

**⊙** — circle with center dot.

The navel-stone seen from above. The point is the kernel, the ring is the orbit of principles, the whole glyph is the omphalos rendering itself. It is also the alchemical sign for gold and the astronomical sign for the sun — the silicon alchemist's mark for the dark-matter core that exerts all the gravity. One glyph; the kernel and its orbit in a single mark.

## §7 · Wax-ball reduction

**To name is to run.**

## §8 · The cast · the running surface

This doc is the mold. The cast is:

`_ops/omphalos.html` · the navel-stone webpage. Inherits the ptah skin from `_ptah/cyrelium-md-viewer.html`. Renders §5 literally — ⊙ at center, ten principia in first orbit, the corpus in second, four cornerstones at the diagonals as load. Selection re-keys the interface; EMIT writes a `BRIEF-{NAME}-001.md` for the next branch.

`_ops/launchers/launch-omphalos.command` · its janus. Double-click serves `_ops/` on :8765 and opens the page. Kill the terminal, the cast dissolves. The launcher is the wax; the page is the cast; this doc is the mold.
