# PO Quickstart — The Spark → Bedrock → Hypothesis Move

*The principle of operating for turning a conversation into a sibling entry on hermeticbusinessservices.com. The recipe is epistemic, not procedural. The file-and-folder housing is downstream of the move.*

**Worked example:** `The Curvature Hurts` ([spacetimecurvaturehurts.com](https://spacetimecurvaturehurts.com/)).
**Companion source:** `~/Desktop/spacetime-curvature-hurts.source.md`.
**House motto:** *colloquium pro fonte* — the conversation is in place of the source, not the prelude to it.

## 0. Plain-English summary — for one to read

A conversation begins with a **spark** — a felt question, often half-formed. The work of a PO entry is to walk that spark down to **bedrock** (the part of shared reality nobody disputes, said in plain English), and then to walk it back up through what's **known**, what's **unknown**, what the **existing theories** are, where this entry's **seam** sits between bedrock and speculation, what the entry's own **hypothesis** is, and where that hypothesis **may land** if it turns out to be more than a rhyme.

A reader can stop at any layer. The deck tells them what the entry is *of*. The bedrock tells them what is real. The seam tells them where reality ends and the entry's wager begins. The hypothesis tells them what the wager is. The landing-zone tells them what it would take for the wager to settle.

Plain language at every layer-boundary. Technical phrasing only after the plain phrasing has done its job. The reader earns the technical with their attention — never the other way around.

## 1. The hierarchy of layers

Read this stack top-to-bottom. Each layer is its own register; each is navigable on its own. The entry is built so a reader can drop in at any level without first reading the one above.

### Layer 1 · Spark
The seed prompt, verbatim. Voice-noted, half-articulated, run-on — preserve it as it arrived. This is what the entry is a reading *of*. It belongs at the bottom of the page as the **Source**, and in compressed form at the top as the **Deck**.

### Layer 2 · Bedrock — shared reality, in plain English
Bedrock is what almost no one in the relevant discipline disputes. **Test:** can a smart fourteen-year-old follow it without a glossary? If not, it isn't bedrock yet — it's still the field's interior dialect. Translate it.

Bedrock is *generous*. It hands the reader the substance of the question before asking them to care about the wager. If the bedrock isn't strong enough to stand alone as the whole entry's value, the entry isn't ready.

### Layer 3 · Knowns
What the discipline has established, observed, or measured. Cite by name (Einstein, Bohm, EHT, McGilchrist) but keep the prose lay-readable. A known is anything you could find in a graduate-level textbook in that field.

### Layer 4 · Unknowns
What the discipline itself acknowledges it does not know — flagged in the discipline's own voice, not the entry's. *"GR is silent on what is inside the singularity"* is the discipline marking its own edge. Quote that edge cleanly. It is the most underused layer in most popular writing.

### Layer 5 · Existing theory map
Named positions, tagged for status. **Consensus** first, **minority** positions second, **fringe** or **speculative** last. The reader should be able to scan this section and know where every position currently sits in the field's regard, before the entry tells them where *it* sits.

### Layer 6 · Seam
The named place where bedrock ends and the entry's own move begins. **The most important sentence in any PO entry.** The seam is where the reader knows, consciously, that they are crossing from shared reality into the entry's wager. Make it explicit. Never hide it.

A well-named seam reads like: *"That is the speculative layer. GR is silent there. The discipline is naming the seam."*

### Layer 7 · Hypothesis — the entry's wager
The move the entry is actually making. Named for what it is — a **rhyme**, a **generative analogy**, a **structural claim**, a **coinage**, a **traceroute**, a **hypothesis**. Held loosely. No persuasive prose; just the shape of the move and what it does that the standard frame doesn't.

### Layer 8 · Landing zone — where it may land
The honest section. *What would have to be true for this wager to be a real identity rather than a useful analogy? What would falsify it? What would settle it?* The landing zone protects the wager by refusing to overclaim it. If the rhyme later stops doing work, this section tells the reader where to look first.

## 2. Worked example — *The Curvature Hurts*

The same stack, populated from the live entry.

| Layer | What it holds in this entry |
|---|---|
| **1 · Spark** | Shalaco, voice-noted: *"i'm trying to understand space time, and gravity… in Sagittarius A* … the portal transition to the other side where the universe turns into consciousness."* |
| **2 · Bedrock** (plain English) | Spacetime is a 4D fabric. Mass bends it. Gravity is what bending feels like from inside. Clocks slow where the bend is deeper. |
| **3 · Knowns** | Gravitational time dilation; velocity time dilation; ISS net effect dominated by velocity; Sgr A* mass ≈ 4M solar masses; EHT image consistent with a black hole. |
| **4 · Unknowns** | What is inside the singularity; whether the Kerr interior is physically passable; how to picture 4D curvature with a 3D sensory cortex. |
| **5 · Theory map** | **Consensus:** GR + Sgr A* as a black hole. **Minority:** boson-star and dark-matter-concentration alternatives. **Fringe / cross-corpus:** consciousness-substrate-inversion at the core. |
| **6 · Seam** | *"On consciousness-on-the-other-side: that is the speculative layer. General relativity is silent there. The discipline is naming the seam."* |
| **7 · Hypothesis** | The brain-hurt of holding 4D curvature is the same gap the hologram model (Bohm, Pribram) names from the other direction — a registry-translation cost between projections of one substrate. |
| **8 · Landing** | The rhyme is structural, not proven identity. McGilchrist / Schore / Damasio / Gendlin are adjacent vocabulary. If the rhyme stops doing work — if the felt-sense strain turns out to be ordinary spatial-cognition load and nothing more — drop the rhyme. The bedrock is unaffected. |

A reader who reads only Layer 2 has the substance. A reader who descends to Layer 6 meets the seam consciously, and crosses it knowing they're crossing.

## 3. The quantum shape (why this stack is not a checklist)

The eight layers are not steps. They are **registers held in superposition**. A single sentence can do work in two layers at once. The deck (Layer 1, compressed) often carries the seam (Layer 6) implicitly. The keystone pull-quote usually lives at the boundary between Layer 7 and Layer 8.

What makes the move *quantum* and not *classical*:

- **The reader collapses the wavefunction.** The entry doesn't decide which layer the reader enters at. The TOC, the compact-links, and the deck all offer different entry points. A scholar drops in at Layer 5. A friend drops in at Layer 2. A skeptic drops in at Layer 8. Each gets a complete reading.
- **Bedrock and hypothesis coexist on the page.** A classical write-up walks the reader from premise → argument → conclusion. A PO entry **holds all layers simultaneously**, with the seam named so the reader always knows which register they're in.
- **The seam is a phase boundary, not a hand-off.** Bedrock doesn't *become* hypothesis. They sit in different registers of the same conversation. The seam is the visible interference pattern between them.
- **The source at the bottom is the substrate, not the citation.** *Colloquium pro fonte.* The reading is one projection of the conversation; the conversation is the whole. Other projections (a thread, a margin-note, a footnote in a different entry) remain available.

---

## 4. The compact-links contract (top of every page)

Two single-line links pin the entry's coordinates inside the corpus. **Not cards. Not panels.** One `<p>` per line, label · linked phrase · em-dash · one-sentence-or-shorter tail.

- **Pars pro toto** — what part-for-the-whole this entry holds. The specific phenomenon this entry is the local sample of.
- **Principium operandi** — what operating principle this entry is running. The specific PO this entry instantiates.

These two lines are the entry's contract with the rest of the corpus. If they don't write themselves cleanly, the entry isn't ready to ship. The two registered keystone definitions live at `hermeticbusinessservices.com/PARS_PRO_TOTO/index.html` and `hermeticbusinessservices.com/PRINCIPIUM_OPERANDI/index.html`.

## 5. Voice

- **Declarative.** No "let me explain" / "in this piece we'll." State, don't promise.
- **Plain English at every layer-boundary.** Technical phrasing only after the plain phrasing has done its job.
- **Em-dashes do work.** Skip comma-pairs.
- **Restraint is the signature.** One keystone, one pull-quote, one author-note. The discipline is in what the entry refuses to add.
- **Closer pattern:** *"[The through-line, restated]. Held loosely. If the rhyme stops doing work, drop it."*
- **Sign:** `KN)Ø((º)NE · MM/DD/YYYY`.

## 6. The housing — file mechanics (downstream of the move)

The skeleton above is the *move*. The skeleton below is just where the move sits on disk. Cited briefly so the document is standalone; the long-form reference is in the corpus.

- Folder at site root: `~/Desktop/hermeticbusinessservices.com/SLUG_IN_CAPS/`
- Contents: `index.html` (the reading) · `entry.json` (the manifest) · `<slug>.pdf` (optional print-archive) · `.htaccess` (one line: `DirectoryIndex index.html`)
- Splicer: `python3 _build/build-tree.py` — discovers every `*/entry.json`, sorts by `(group, order, folder)`, rewrites the `<!-- TREE:SIBLINGS:START --> … <!-- TREE:SIBLINGS:END -->` region of `index.html`. Idempotent. `--check` for dry-run.
- Deploy: `bash migration/migrate.sh` or use `migration/control-panel.html`.
- Long-form file-mechanics reference: `000 Hermetic Logs/sibling-protocol.html`.
- Page-grammar exemplar to copy: `MAGICAL_CHILD_ATTUNEMENT/index.html`.

That's the whole housing. The interesting work is upstairs.

## 7. The PO of this quickstart

*Pars pro toto:* this document is the part-for-the-whole of every future conversation-to-entry conversion — one quickstart as the local sample of the system's larger pattern of *spark → bedrock → seam → hypothesis → landing.*

*Principium operandi:* **the conversation is the substrate; the reading is one projection.** Bedrock travels first, in plain English, so any reader has the substance before being asked to follow the wager. The seam is named so crossing it is conscious. The hypothesis is held loosely so it can survive being wrong.

*Colloquium pro fonte.* Held loosely. If the rhyme stops doing work, drop it.
